Theme Options Panel
You can find the theme options panel under Appearance → Theme Options in the WordPress Dashboard.
General Options
Logo – Upload an image logo. If you don’t upload an image logo, Spurgeon will use the Site Title and Tagline set in Settings → General. The Title font can be changed under the Typography tab in the theme options panel.
Favicon – Upload a favicon that will display in the browser address bar. It should be 16 by 16 pixels. You can create one online here.
Home Message – This text will be displayed under the main header image on the home page only.
Custom CSS – Add your own CSS as needed. This can especially be helpful if you are using a Google webfont and you need to adjust one of the heading sizes.
Anayltics – Add javascript tracking code for services like Google Analytics.
Appearance
Note: The header image is set in Appearance → Header. The background can be changed in Appearance → Background. You can many free background images at Subtle Patterns.
The following options allow you to apply basic customizations to your theme colors.
Accent Color – This applied to the drop down menus, the top border of the footer, and all blockquotes.
Menu Color – Select the main color of your menu.
Menu Hover Color – Select the main color of your menu when hovering a link & highlighting a page.
Link Color – Choose the color for all of your hyperlinks.
Link Hover Color – Choose the color to use when hovering over a hyperlink.
Google Fonts – There are several options allow you to make changes to your theme fonts for headings, body, and the home message. Enter the name of the Google Web Font you want to use for the headings. For example, you would need to enter “Averia Gruesa Libre” if you want to use this font: http://www.google.com/webfonts/specimen/Averia+Gruesa+Libre
Social Links
These details are used for the social links widget. Enter the full url for each service.
Posts
Show Featured Image on Single Posts – This controls whether to show a featured image on individual posts. For more information on featured images, please see this article: http://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/#setting-a-featured-image.
Featured Image Size – If you checked to show a featured image, you can choose between display a small thumbnail image or a full-width image.
Footer
Enter text that will be displayed in the footer. Adding text here will replace the default text displayed on the theme.
Widgets
There are two available widget areas: Footer & Sidebar.
Spurgeon comes with several custom widgets that can be used:
Spurgeon Twitter Feed
This widget is used to show your recent Twitter activity. Available options allow you to set the title, the number of tweets to show, and your username. Make sure you keep the @ sign in front of your username.
Spurgeon Social Links
Displays icons for Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Vimeo, and YouTube based on your settings in the Theme Options panel.
Spurgeon Latest Posts
Display your recent posts from any category. If your posts have a featured image set, a thumbnail image will display in the widget as well.
